Overview
Paragliding in Nepal offers an exceptional experience due to the country’s diverse altitude range. The paragliding culture took root in Nepal in 1995, and one of the highly recommended destinations for this activity is Pokhara. Widely regarded as one of the top five tandem paragliding spots globally, Pokhara stands out for its stable thermals, convenient take-off and landing sites, the safety of a large lake, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
Tandem paragliding involves the glider seated in a separate harness in front of the pilot, providing an opportunity to relax, enjoy the surroundings, take pictures, and engage in conversation with the pilot during the flight. This type of paragliding is known for its comfort and safety. The paragliding adventure begins from Sarangkot, situated at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. During the 30-40 minute flight, gliders share the airspace with Himalayan Griffin, Vultures, Eagles, and Kites, all while taking in the stunning vistas of the Himalayan range, including Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Lamjung Himal, Annapurna, and Himchuli. Pokhara also hosts a professional paragliding competition annually, further establishing itself as one of the premier paragliding locations worldwide.
