Overview
The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek combines the secluded and picturesque Langtang Valley with Gosainkunda’s high alpine lakes. Gosaikunda is an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in Nepal’s Langtang National Park, located at an elevation of 4,380 meters (14,370 feet) in Rasuwa District and designated as a Ramsar Site. Pilgrims from all around the world visit Langtang Gosaikunda to worship Lord Shiva and other deities. The reservoirs are around 4,400 meters downstream. According to myth, after swallowing the world’s toxins, Lord Shiva plunged his Trishul through the soil to quench his thirst with pure water.A large rock in the center of Gosaikunda lake is thought to be the ruins of a Shiva shrine. During the August Full Moon Night, devotees gather in large numbers to take a sacred bath in the lake. Langtang Gosaikunda journey is a stunning journey through Nepal’s lush woods, attractive villages, abundant animals, and magnificent Himalayan views. The hike begins with a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu city. Then we drive to Syabrubesi, a Tamang settlement on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River, to begin our hike. We visited Kyanjin Gompa before climbing Tserko Ri the following day. The trail also passes across high passes with spectacular alpine scenery. It brings to life the stunning image of the ethnic tribal community that lives in the area. Exploring the Langtang River, Kyanjin Ri, Laurebina La Pass, Gosaikunda, and other destinations will take you up to 4,380 m above sea level, with overnight stays frequently below 4,000 m. The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is an excellent vacation for anyone seeking adventure in the magnificence of Nepal among the gods of mythology.

Itinerary
You will arrive in Kathmandu valley at the Tribhuvan International Airport, and our agents from Gravity Expedition will be there to pick you up. They will take you to your hotel, where you can rest and enjoy a delicious and traditional Nepali meal. In the evening, you have the option to attend a fascinating folk cultural performance.
The next morning, after breakfast, you will depart for a full-day sightseeing trip of Kathmandu Valley. You can see the historic Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath Temple, which are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The largest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath, as well as the magnificent artwork and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square, depict ancient Nepalese culture and are highlights of our guided trip.
Patan City will enchant you with its renowned beautiful arts and ancient architecture. When you return to your hotel, you will have time to explore the surrounding neighborhood, eat dinner, and perhaps take a leisurely stroll down the famous streets. Finally, the day closes with an authentic Nepalese dinner at Nepali Cultural Restaurant.
After breakfast, we travel out along Kathmandu’s north-western highlands for around 7-8 hours. Along the way, you will see beautiful scenery, including magnificent snowcapped mountains such as Mt. Annapurna II, Manasalu, Ganesh Himal, and other lesser peaks, as well as a lush landscape of hillocks, rivers, and villages. Explore the Himalayan landscape and lifestyle through terraced farms and rural settlements. The landscape of slopes and ridgeline vistas as you pass through Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati, and Dhunche makes you feel like you’re heading into low ground. We have lunch at the Trishuli Bazaar before continuing on to Dhunche. We descend to Syabrubesi for an overnight stay.
Today’s trail continues down the ridge until we reach the east, where it dips dramatically off the crest and through dense forest. The trail begins by weaving through the temperate deciduous forests of oak and maple that fill the valley’s lower sections before climbing into enormous stands of spruce, fir, and blue pine.
Towering walls close in, and our routes will edge precipitous waterfalls that plunge into a silt-filled river below. Cross a bridge (1960m) over a stream of the Langtang Khola and then ascend up from the river; about an hour, shortly after the trail levels off, we rejoin the old Langtang trail from Sherpa Gaon and Syabrubesi. Another hour from this trail intersection, we arrive at the Lama Hotel in the small village of Chon gong. Overnight at Tea house.
After breakfast, we will begin our trek to Kyangjin Gompa, the region’s principal monastery. We pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, and sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions on them. We also walk by Nepal’s largest mani wall, which is constructed of stone and has prayers written on it. After the short climb, we spend the remainder of the afternoon seeing the Buddhist shrine at Kyangjin Gompa and the surrounding surroundings, which offer breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
Today is the rest and exploration day of the hike. We can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, stroll up the moraine to witness the stunning ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung, or ascend Kyanjin Ri (4350m) and Tserko Ri (5,000m), the trek’s highest point. Hike easily for a breathtaking view of the Langtang Lirung, Langtang range, Kinshung, and Yansa Tsenji. We also have the option of making a side journey to Langshisa Kharka. There are various potential side treks, and the adjacent areas of North include several tiny isolated valleys. Spend the night back in Kyanjin.
After breakfast, we set out on our hike and return to the Lama Hotel. The majority of today’s trip will be downward, passing through forests and picturesque Tamang settlements. We also get to see different views of the Himalayas that we missed while climbing up. Overnight at Lama Hotel.
We begin our trek with a climb up to the Rimche Village. From here we descend to the banks of the Langtang Khola. We continue on an easy trail to Bamboo and begin ascending to Landslide Lodge. From here we continue our trek to Thulo Syabru. There are two trails as we cross another bridge. We follow the one that passes by Pahare hotel and a waterfall at 2210 m to reach Thulo Syabru. Overnight in Thulo Syabru.
Today will be a short trek, but it is vital that we do not go to Gosaikunda since the constant climb in height will help us acclimate to the high altitude. After some trekking, we come across a chorten and a checkpoint. From the checkpoint, we head south, passing via Garta Village and Phulung Monastery before arriving at Shin Gompa for the night.
Today, we get to see spectacular panoramic vistas of the Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang. We spend the majority of the day following a ridge and getting a view of the first of the holy lakes. The third lake, Gosaikunda (4380m), holds special religious and cultural significance for the Nepalese and is one of the country’s most popular pilgrimage attractions. The lake is almost completely encircled by mountains and is accompanied by a large ensemble of nine additional lakes. Hundreds of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake each year around Janai Purnima in August to take a holy bath. The big boulder in the middle of the lake is said to be the ruins of a Shiva shrine. Overnight in Gosaikunda.
We travel along the lake’s shoreline before ascending to the Laurebina Pass (4610m). The Helambu region begins from the Lauribina La (pass) and falls into the Melamchi valley. The trail is difficult and passes moraines, although it is clearly marked with cairns. We pass through three more tiny lakes before arriving at the pass. We ascend a little hill and enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings. Before arriving in Ghopte, our trail passes through Surya Kunda. Stay overnight in Ghopte.
We hike upward and downhill on a track that winds through lush forest. Thare Pati Village is accessible by a wooded route. We ascend a ridge above the settlement and continue our journey. The view from the ridge of the Nepalese highlands is stunning, particularly from Soli Danda. We cross two suspension bridges before arriving in Melamchigaon, a charming village with a monastery. Overnight in Melamchigaon.
We pass a stupa and cross a little brook at Tarkeghyang. Our road leads through trees to Ama Yangri, the highest point of our climb today at 3,800 meters. The top of the hill features a stupa and Buddhist prayer flags. Furthermore, we have breathtaking views of Mt. Shishapangma and the Langtang ranges.
The mountains are so close that we feel like we could practically touch them. As we descend, we frequently spot yaks grazing in the bushes before entering the forest. We also trek on a damaged stone trail before arriving at Tarkeghyang, a picturesque Sherpa settlement. Overnight in Tarkheghyang.
We begin our journey after breakfast. The trail is easy and leads through lovely trees. Before arriving in Sermathang, we pass through picturesque villages, chortens, a monastery, and a mani wall. It’s a stunning Sherpa village with breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal, Jugal Himal, and the Langtang Range. On a clear day, we can see Mount Everest in the distance. Overnight in Sermanthang.
We walk through meadows, fields, and picturesque towns to get to Melamchi Bazaar. From here, we drive to Kathmandu and reflect on our experiences in the Langtang and Helambu regions. After arriving in Kathmandu, we freshened up and rested. In the evening, Gravity Expedition will throw a farewell dinner to commemorate the successful completion of our journey. Overnight in Kathmandu.
