Winter can be quite cold, and the monsoon season (June to September) can bring heavy rainfall, making the trails slippery and difficult.
Accommodation options during the trek are generally basic. You’ll stay in teahouses or lodges run by local families along the trekking route. These lodges offer simple amenities such as beds, basic meals, and communal facilities. It’s advisable to carry a sleeping bag for added comfort.
Ensure you are prepared for altitude changes and potential altitude sickness. Acclimatization days and proper hydration are crucial. Also, be aware of the trek’s remote nature and ensure you have travel insurance that covers trekking in high-altitude regions. Carry a basic first aid kit and any necessary medications.
Basic food and water are available along the trekking route, primarily in the form of meals provided by teahouses and lodges. Typical offerings include rice, lentils, vegetables, and noodles. Carrying water purification tablets or a filter is advisable as the quality of available water may vary.
Potential risks include altitude sickness, unpredictable weather, and limited medical facilities. To mitigate these risks, ensure proper acclimatization, stay hydrated, and monitor your health regularly. Carry a basic first aid kit, and if possible, trek with a guide or group for added support and safety.
