Located 32 km northwest of Pokhara, Ghandruk is a Gurung village and a popular trekking destination in the Annapurna region. Ideal for those with limited time or seeking a shorter trek combined with outdoor activities, the Ghandruk Trek offers stunning views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machapuchare, Gangapurna, and Mt. Hiuchuli. Serving as a gateway to Poon Hill, the trek starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. This journey seamlessly combines local culture, heritage, and breathtaking mountain panoramas.
Itinerary
As you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the valley, the Himalayas, and terraced fields during your flight. At Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet and welcome you to Nepal, assisting with your hotel check-in. After settling in, take some time to rest and relax. Subsequently, our office staff will guide you on a brief tour of Thamel, introducing you to recommended restaurants, ATMs, money changers, and other essential places for your stay in the area.
After an early breakfast, you will be transported to the airport for your flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival, our representative will be there to receive you and guide you to the hotel. On this day, you have the opportunity to explore Pokhara, enjoying the ambiance of Lakeside, Sarangkot, and the breathtaking view of Machhapuchhre.
The journey commences with a hearty breakfast, followed by a drive to Nayapul, lasting approximately 1 to 2 hours. From Nayapul, the hike towards Ghandruk will begin. The 4 to 5-hour hike takes you through a forest adorned with rhododendron, magnolia oak, sandalwood, and pine. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the spectacular views of the Annapurna ranges, including notable peaks like Lamjung Himal. Your overnight stay will be at Ghandruk, a tourist hub with variety of lodges, eateries and shops.
After a delightful day exploring the beauty of Ghandruk and collecting various items for which Ghandruk is famous, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Gurung museum. Housed in a tiny exhibit within an old traditional house made of stone slabs, the museum offers insights into the history and local way of life. Following this enjoyable day in Ghandruk, you’ll embark on a 4 to 5-hour drive towards Pokhara, your overnight destination.
You’ll catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu. This day is leisurely, allowing you to shop for souvenirs or explore the capital’s streets on foot, bicycle, or rickshaw, catching anything you may have missed at the beginning of your trip. For dinner, you have various options, including French, Vietnamese, and Middle Eastern cuisines, making it a delightful way to spend your last evening in Nepal.
It’s time to bid farewell to Nepal. Make the most of your last moments in Kathmandu with breakfast at a café, a leisurely city stroll, and some souvenir shopping. A representative will meet you at your hotel and drive you to the airport for your return flight home. It’s recommended to be at the airport at least two hours prior to departure.
