The reserve is a haven for bird enthusiasts, boasting 423 bird species, including Bengal floricans, Indian Grassbird, Swamp Francolin, chestnut-capped babbler, Jerdon’s bush chat, and Jerdon babbler. Rani Tal (Queen Lake) is a prominent spot during the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve Tour, attracting various animals and birds for water and food, such as herons, ducks, storks, kingfishers, egrets, and swamp deer.
