Itinerary
You will arrive in Kathmandu valley at the Tribhuvan International Airport, and our agents from Gravity Expedition will be there to pick you up. They will take you to your hotel, where you can rest and enjoy a delicious and traditional Nepali meal. In the evening, you have the option to attend a fascinating folk cultural performance.
Following breakfast the following morning, you will go for a full-day sightseeing trip of the Kathmandu Valley. You may see Swyambhunath, a very old temple that is essentially classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the revered Pashupatinath Temple.
Highlights of our guided trip include the largest Buddhist stupa at Boudhanath and the exquisite artwork and old architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square, which showcase the ancient culture of Nepal.
Patan City’s historic architecture and renowned fine arts will charm you on a visit. You will have time to explore the neighborhood, eat supper, and maybe take a leisurely stroll down the well-known streets when you get back to your hotel. A traditional Nepalese dinner at the Nepali Cultural Restaurant rounds off the day.
We spend the day drafting final documentation, inspecting gear and equipment, and so forth. If you forget something before heading for the mountain, you can go shopping one last time.
To avoid traffic, we will leave early in the morning for Syabrubesi. We will drive through breathtaking scenery of green lush hills, occasional views of snow-covered mountains, and some of Nepal’s fastest moving rivers. Syabrubesi is the beginning point for the majority of treks and expeditions in the Langtang region, allowing you to prepare for the trek and purchase any necessary trekking equipment. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
Walking alongside the Langtang River, we will gradually ascend to the Lama Hotel. We will pass through small, picturesque Tamang villages with magnificent stone cottages and receive our first glimpse of the Himalayas. The occasional prayer flag billowing against the wind on the village’s backdrop look lovely and provide excellent photographic opportunity. Overnight at Lama Hotel.
This region is known for its abundant flora and fauna, and as we travel to Langtang hamlet, we will see plenty of beauty. We will travel through Gumanechowk and Ghodatabela before arriving in Langtang village. We will pass through several small waterfalls and streams, as well as lush meadows, before arriving at Langtang hamlet, from which we will have a view of the Langtang Range. Overnight in Langtang Village.
The Kyanjin Gompa, which holds enormous significance for the locals of this area, appears stunning against the backdrop of grey and white. The Buddhist influence is so strong that we observe several prayer flags fluttering against the prayer wheel and miniature prayer houses that people have created. The settlement offers views of Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Langtang II (6596m). Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa.
Today’s acclimatization hike will take us up to Tserko Ri (4984m). The daybreak from Tserko Ri is magnificent as it passes through numerous fields with yaks grazing. From a height of 4984m, it provides a spectacular view of the valley below as well as a panoramic vista of Langtang (7,227m), Yala (5,500m), Shishapangma (8,013), and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). It is an excellent time to shoot some stunning photographs before returning to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa.
The path from the base camp is an upward ascent. This short hike leads up through a Rhododendron woodland. We follow the rhododendron bushes and cross the river. We headed west up the mountain and then south. The base camp at 4,987 meters takes approximately five to six hours to reach from Kyanjin. We put up our base camp on good wide terrain. It’s a vast rocky area with fresh water running through it. The view from the camp is spectacular.
To the north, there is a stunning view of Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri, and Shisapangma in Tibet. To the south, the spectacular south face of Naya Kanga (5844m) rises above. Because the camp space is completely flat, we can easily set up our tents. We spent the night at the base camp.
Today we get up early and begin our journey to the summit of BP Peak. From base camp, we cross the rocky field and ascend about 50 meters till we reach a rocky slab on the right. From there, we ascend the steep 30 degree slope that leads to a glacier, which quickly transforms into a vast glacial bowl. We zigzag your way up, staying to the right and heading for the rock wall to the west.
From here, the slope becomes slightly steeper, roughly 35-40 degrees. At least 100 meters of rope are fixed. We stay on the ice and climb around the boulders until we reach the top of the ridge, which is roughly 5,500m. Then there’s another steep stretch. We secure another ten yards of rope. There are a number of crevasses on the way up before we climb 100 meters straight to the summit. We’ll need another fix rope to reach the summit. The crest at the summit is rather narrow, with little space.
On a clear day, the peak offers spectacular views of Shishapangma, Naya Kanga, Ganesh Himal, and even Kathmandu Valley. We return to base camp.
6-7 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.
From Langtang village we trek to Ghora Tabela. We stop briefly for lunch and thereafter continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel.
From Lama Hotel, we return to Syabrubesi. We can travel along the undulating slope that leads to the village. This allows us to learn more about the Tamang culture and customs. We can also simply relax in the sun and see the gorgeous Himalayan Mountains.
5-6 hrs drive. Overnight in Hotel.
Leisure day in Kathmandu, followed by a farewell meal and celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. After exploring the valley’s world heritage sites, you will enjoy a farewell supper with your Nepali friends and guide. FAQs
On the Baden Powell Peak Journey’s off-beaten paths, it may be necessary to seek alternative waste disposal methods because restroom facilities can be difficult to find in the wilderness.
However, while staying in lodges or motels, you will have convenient access to toilets. The facilities will be less luxury than those found in cities, but they will be adequate. In city areas, you can find both western and non-western facilities, however this is not true in Langtang’s Himalayan locations.
Respect local customs by adhering to standards for interacting with local communities. To safeguard the environment, always be respectful, avoid harming sacred locations, and adhere to the leave-no-trace concept.
Look for partners who share similar fitness levels and ambitions. Having a supportive team with effective communication skills can make a significant difference. If you’re climbing with a group, make sure everyone understands their duties and expectations.
A waterproof and windproof jacket, thermal layers, insulated gloves, and a warm hat are all essential pieces of weather gear. Weather changes quickly, so having versatile layers will keep you comfortable and safe.
While there might not be specific customs for Baden Powell Peak, respecting local climbing traditions and customs is always appreciated. Engaging with local guides and communities can provide insights into any relevant practices.
Celebrate with your climbing team by taking photos, sharing a special meal, or performing a minor ceremonial gesture like as displaying a flag or mark of achievement. Reflecting on your journey and accomplishments with your team enhances the celebration.
