Conquer Dhaulagiri the Seventh Summit

49 Days

Overview

Mount Dhaulagiri, at 8,167 metres (26,795 feet), is the world’s seventh tallest summit. This Himalayan massif is located in north-central Nepal’s Dhaulagiri zone, northwest of Pokhara. In Sanskrit, Dhaula means white, while Giri means beautiful. Until the discovery of Mt. Kanchenjunga, it was regarded as the highest peak. Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer, Albin Schelbert, Nyima Dorji, and Nawang Dorji, members of a Swiss/Austrian expedition, made the first successful ascent of Dhaulagiri in 1960. The peak of Dhaulagiri stretches nearly thirty miles, adding shape to an otherwise convoluted landscape of twisting ridges, glaciers, and icefalls. Several pyramid-shaped peaks rise around the main crest. The Dhaulagiri Expedition lasts roughly 7 weeks, including a 4,750-meter week-long trek to the base camp. Despite the fact that there are more than six distinct routes to climb Dhaulagiri, it is a difficult and complex peak to climb, regardless of the path, requiring advanced talent. The usual route to climb Dhaulagiri is via the North East Ridge, which is climbed over basecamp with three other camps. The scenery is beautiful, and the challenging trip includes several mountain passes, including French Pass (5,360 m) and Thapa Pass (5,200 m). Aside from the Dhaulagiri base camp walk, you will have the opportunity to experience the exquisite lifestyle and culture of the Magar, Gurung, and Thakali communities. The Dhaulagiri region is one of Nepal’s most remote locations, with a variety of Himalayan ranges, deep valleys, high passes, and panoramic views. The Trans-Himalayan route is tranquil, yet full of adventure and thrill. The Dhaulagiri trip, which covers several 7,000-meter peaks, is ideal for people looking for an exciting and hard journey through inaccessible highlands, rocky terrain, and off the main path.
