Overview
Paldor Peak, at 5,896 metres (19,344 feet), is located northwest of Kathmandu on the south-east edge of the Ganesh Himal. It is located at the head of the Khola Mailung, a tributary of the Trishuli Gandaki River, where the Tiru and Karpu Dandas intersect. Although it is less than 6,000 meters above sea level, it provides a gratifying and demanding climb. Bill Tilman, Peter Lloyd, Tenzing Sherpa, and Da Namgyal were the first to climb it in 1949, during the North-East Ridge monsoon. Climbing Paldor Peak begins in Syabrubesi after a 7-8 hour bus ride from Kathmandu. We trekked past Tamang Tangjet and Gatlang villages before continuing north along the ridge and dropping into the jungle above Mailung Khola. Paldor peak climbing requires the establishment of two camps: first base camp and high peak paldor camp. This is one of Ganesh Himal’s most popular and well-known hiking routes. Paldor Peak climbing offers breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal (6,704m), Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Yala peak (5,500m), Manaslu (8,156m), Machhapuchhare (6998m), Annapurna Himalayan panoramas, and Tibetan mountains such as Shishapangma (8,013m). This location also offers amazing peaceful lakes, magnificent waterfalls, breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, and lush green farming terraces. You conclude the trek at Khahare Bazaar and return to Kathmandu.

You will need a climbing permit for Paldor Peak, as well as a Langtang National Park entry permit. These are typically arranged through your trekking agency in advance.
Acclimatize gradually by spending time at intermediate altitudes, stay hydrated, and avoid overexertion. Eating well and listening to your body are key. If you experience symptoms, notify your guide and descend if necessary.
You might spot various wildlife, such as red pandas, Himalayan tahr, and diverse bird species. Always observe wildlife from a distance and avoid feeding them.
Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule, avoid caffeine before bed, and use earplugs and an eye mask if needed. Ensure your sleeping bag is adequately insulated for the temperatures you’ll be facing.
Use satellite phones or local SIM cards in areas where coverage is available. Some trekking lodges provide internet connectivity, although it may be limited. Inform your family about your expected check-in timings.
