Overview
Barauli is a quaint Tharu village nestled on the outskirts of Chitwan National Park, and Barauli Community Homestay is a local Tharu Women-run enterprise. The homestay features private cottages with traditional Tharu art adorning their earthen, thatched roofs, providing a glimpse into the rich Tharu community and culture. Despite the rustic setting, modern amenities such as running water, comfortable beds, and mosquito nets are provided. Meals are enjoyed in a communal dining hall, fostering a sense of togetherness among guests. Local women prepare and serve dishes made from ingredients sourced from the surrounding land and community, offering a unique culinary experience with subtle regional flavors. Additionally, guests can witness traditional dances like Bhajayati Thekara and Dafu, accompanied by instruments like sticks and drums, performed by local dancers adorned in traditional attire. Visitors are often encouraged to join in the festivities and dance along if they wish.
