Overview
Mt Chamlang, standing at an impressive height of 7,321m (24,019ft), is a remarkable mountain located in Eastern Nepal, approximately 10 km southwest of Mt Makalu, the 5th highest peak in the country. The first successful ascent of Chamlang was achieved on the 31st of May 1962 by a Japanese expedition team led by Takeo Okamoto, with So Anma and Nepali Sherpa Pasang Phutar Sherpa being the first to reach the summit. The mountain offers a breathtaking panoramic view, encompassing five of the world’s 8,000m peaks, including Everest, Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, and Lhotse, as well as various other 7,000m peaks like Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Kangtega, and Nuptse.
The journey to conquer Mt Chamlang starts from the Base Camp situated at an altitude of 4,200m. From there, climbers establish three additional camps before attempting the summit: Camp I at 5,200m, Camp II at 5,700m, and Camp III at 6,300m. This ascent is not for the faint of heart, as the mountain presents numerous challenges, including steep sections, deep seracs, and crevasses. As such, it demands a high level of physical fitness and prior professional climbing experience. For adventurous climbers seeking a rewarding and challenging experience, the Chamlang expedition serves as an ideal choice.

Mount Chamlang presents the challenge of setting up three high camps, requiring the transportation of gear, food, and fuel to higher elevations. Despite being physically fit at sea level, one’s efficiency significantly decreases at high altitudes. To ensure a successful summit, a team of Climbing Sherpas, drawn from all clients, will collaboratively establish the route, providing the necessary support.
Having a personal Climbing Sherpa eliminates any disparities in receiving limited climbing support on the summit day. In emergencies, the expedition leader bears the responsibility for multiple individuals, including those with impaired physical abilities due to high altitude. In contrast, a Climbing Sherpa solely focuses on their own client, benefiting from their natural genetic predisposition and cooperation with other expedition Climbing Sherpas. Our highly trained and experienced Climbing Sherpas have a wealth of experience in high elevation climbs in Nepal and Tibet, season after season. Their expertise enhances safety and ensures a successful ascent of Mount Chamlang.
