Overview

Himlung Himal, standing at an impressive elevation of 7,126 meters (23,380 feet), presents an awe-inspiring mountainous terrain and offers an exhilarating ascent for exploration. Positioned just above the historic Tibetan village of Phu, Himlung is situated to the northeast of Annapurna and northwest of Manaslu. The Phu area officially welcomed international expeditions and trekking in 1992, gaining increased prominence when a Japanese team led by Akio Koizumi successfully reached the summit on October 3, 1992.

The trek to Himlung follows a trail from Annapurna to Koto and then onward to Phu village. The route from Phu unveils a landscape adorned with high peaks, passes, glaciers, and remote villages, providing a rich display of local culture. The Himlung Himal expedition also treats adventurers to breathtaking views of Api Himal, Kappa Chuli Himal, Nandadevi, and more.

Situated at an altitude of 4,900 meters above sea level, the Mt. Himlung base camp serves as the starting point. Three higher camps are strategically positioned at 5,450 meters, 6,000 meters, and 6,350 meters, respectively. The final stretch of the ascent is characterized by rugged and snowy terrain. Typically, the Himlung Peak climb and return to base camp require a duration of 10 to 15 days. While the ascent to Himlung Peak is considered relatively straightforward compared to other peaks, it necessitates a high level of physical fitness.
