Overview
Chyangba Village (3,500m) is located in the north of Kathmandu, approximately 400 kilometers from the capital. The village is not on the trekker’s track, yet the beauty of nature and the rich cultural legacy make it a unique spot on earth. There are approximately 150 dwellings that are inhabited by a variety of ethnic groups, including Sherpas, Rai, Magar, Newar, Tamang, Chhetris, Brahmins, Viswakarma, and Sunuwar. The majority of the population here are farmers who raise cabbage, apple, corn, wheat, barley, peach, radish, buckwheat, millet, and other crops. The Friday market provides an opportunity to witness where people come to sell or trade their crops for rice, tea, salt, sugar, butter, spices, and soaps from adjacent villages.Several varieties of rhododendron, edible mushrooms, and wild strawberries occur in the adjacent woodlands at this elevation. You can witness lions, jackals, white and red monkeys, and other types of birds. Mani Rimdu is a Buddhist festival held in Chyangba Gompa in which Buddhist monks conduct dances while dressed in masks and robes of various deities. There is also an annual shaman ritual in which people assemble along a stream of water to see shamans execute unique rites while worshipping their spiritual masters. Pikey Trek is a convenient trekking path among others, with Pikey Peak (4,068m) one of the highest mountains in Solu (the Everest region’s lowlands). The name Pikey is derived from the names of two Sherpas. It is famous for its spectacular sunrises, Himalayan summits such as Mt. Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjungha, Gauri Shankar, Lhotse Shar, Numbur, Khatang, Karyalung, Annapurna, Nuptse, Amadablam, Shishapangma, Thamserku, the Rhododendron forest, Sherpa history, and customs. This trek begins in Jiri and continues through Shivalaya, Bhandra, Namkheli, and Ngaur to the villages of Pikey Danda (Hill), Chyangba, Bhitta Kharka, and Phaplu. Trekking the Pikey Trek Base Camp is one of the most popular trekking trails in the Everest region, and it may be one of the lower elevation perspectives to see Mt. Everest (8,848 meters). It is famous for its breathtaking Himalayan beauty, including the mountain range, the Rhododendron forest, Magnolia, and wild orchids. Observing local monasteries is the trail’s main appeal; the Chewang monastery will provide an excellent opportunity to investigate spiritual approaches.

Itinerary
You will arrive in Kathmandu valley at the Tribhuvan International Airport, and our agents from Gravity Expedition will be there to pick you up. They will take you to your hotel, where you can rest and enjoy a delicious and traditional Nepali meal. In the evening, you have the option to attend a fascinating folk cultural performance.
After breakfast, Gravity Expedition will introduce you to your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel for an interesting tour of Swayambhunath Stupa, which is located on a hilltop with spectacular views of Kathmandu City, the green hills that surround the valley, and the high snow-capped mountains.
Swayambhunath is one of the world’s oldest historical landmarks, dating back over 2,5000 years. It is a Buddhist holy complex with a massive dome-shaped stupa with four mystical eyes of Buddha overseeing the four directions of north, south, east, and west. After an outstanding tour of the monastery and little chapels, this location is surrounded by lush forest with many monkeys, and it is also known as the “Monkey Temple”.
The next interesting tour takes you to the east of Kathmandu city, to the Pashupatinath Temple area. Tourists and non-Hindus are not permitted inside the main temple, but one can see it from the bank of the Bagmati River. The holy and famous Shiva temple has golden pagoda tier roofs and four silver doors, and it is surrounded by a lovely forest with many monkeys. This area floods in mid-February during Shiva Ratri (Lord Shiva’s birth anniversary). Nearby, on the opposite bank of the river, funerals and cremations are held for all Hindus.
Then, after driving northeast, you’ll arrive at Bouddhanath Stupa, also known as “Little Tibet” due to the strong Tibetan influence in culture, traditions, and Buddhist religion. Bouddhanath is a massive dome with two tiers where you can walk up to the top for great views of the surrounding Bouddhanath area, which includes shops, stores, restaurants, and monasteries.
After a fascinating and wonderful historical and cultural trip, return to your different accommodations. Then rest for a bit, and in the evening, you will meet with your trekking guide and a representative from the Gravity Expedition office for a short briefing before your journey, since you should be aware of all important elements and locations before embarking on the hike.
